Dr. Savita K Shetty

Dr. Savita K. Shetty is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Science and Engineering at M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. She has over 24 years of academic and research experience in Computer Science and Information Science. Her research expertise lies in Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Medical Image Processing, Computational Pathology, Cloud and Distributed Computing, and Blockchain-based Healthcare Systems. She has been actively involved in interdisciplinary research that applies artificial intelligence to healthcare and medical diagnostics.

She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering and M.Tech degree from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum and B.E degree from Karnatak University Currently,

Dr. Shetty has successfully secured seed funding of ₹5.45 lakhs from MSRIT for a collaborative research project with MSR Dental College titled “Design and Implementation of a Predictive Cloud-Based Application for Early Detection and Risk Stratification of Oral Cancer using Computational Pathology.” Her research output includes 20+ publications in peer-reviewed international journals and IEEE conferences, with notable contributions in oral cancer detection using optimized ensemble and deep learning techniques, breast cancer histopathology image classification, and secure medical data sharing using blockchain technology.

She is a Senior Member of IEEE (Bangalore Section) and a Life Member of ISTE, and actively contributes to the research community as a reviewer for IEEE international conferences, mentor for IEEE hackathons, and Board of Examiners (BOE) member. She also serves as the NBA Chapter Coordinator and has played a key role in academic governance, curriculum design, and quality assurance activities.

In addition to research, Dr. Shetty has extensive experience teaching and supervising projects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has guided many postgraduate projects and undergraduate projects in areas such as Machine Learning, Data Mining, Distributed Systems, and Healthcare Analytics, and has delivered invited talks, FDP sessions, and technical lectures on emerging technologies.
