Dr. Viswanath Talasila

Dr. Viswanath Talasila is Professor and Head of the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT), Bengaluru. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Twente, Netherlands (2000-2004) and a PostDoc from Imperial College, London (2004-2006), and has experience spanning academia, research, and industry. Prior to joining MSRIT in 2012, he served as a Principal Research Scientist at Honeywell Technology Labs, Bangalore (2007-2012), where he led internationally funded projects in wireless vibration monitoring and monitoring-control systems, securing over 3.3 million Euros in EU funding. At MSRIT, he has secured R&D grants totaling Rs 1.44 Crore and consultancy funds of Rs 81 Lakhs.

His research focuses on radar signal processing, sensor fusion, gait analysis systems, functional electrical stimulation, and smart grid technologies. He has guided 4 PhD students to completion, developed an NPTEL course on Control Engineering with IIT-Madras, and coordinates the Center of Excellence in Imaging Technologies. He serves as an Academic Senate Member of VTU (2025-2028).
