Bio

Dr. M Gokulakrishnan is working in biotechnology department of MSRIT. He has over 20 years of academic experience teaching courses related to bioprocess engineering. His research focuses on environmental biotechnology and published widely in Q1/Q2 peer-reviewed journals. He has received research funding and best project award from KSCST. He has successfully organized conferences, FDPs, workshops & Industrial visit and actively contributes to institutional growth as the Department IQAC Coordinator, NBA/NAAC accreditation processes.

Academic interests

Development of nanocomposites for the removal of emerging pollutants from wastewater, Thermophysical property studies of liquid mixtures, Development of nano catalysts for the production of biodiesel and bioethanol from renewable resources.

Emerging pollutants are hazardous chemicals and substances, harmful to the ecosystem and human health. They are substances that are not widely monitored in the environment but can potentially infiltrate the ecosystem and produce known or suspected detrimental environmental and human health consequences. Emerging pollutants include various industrial chemicals, pesticides, disinfection by-products, and a variety of pharmaceuticals such as antibiotics, antiepileptics, antidepressants, anti-inflammatory drugs, and lipid regulators.

Specific research areas of interest are:

Development of nanocomposites for the removal of emerging pollutants from wastewater

Adsorption studies of pollutants using nanocomposites, fitting the data to kinetic models, and classical isotherms

Interpretation of adsorption mechanisms using modelling
